Karen Dieckmann sent this to me about The Help. She though we might be interested in watching the interview with Katie Couric and some women in Jackson. I am posting the e-mail Karen received with all the info.
You might want to see this tomorrow night on your computer. CBS news called Lemuria looking for some African American and white women to chat with Katie Couric on her live webcast about the book The Help by Kathryn Stockett. My dear friend Sally Fran Ross and her friend (daughter of the maid that helped raise Sally Fran) Mae Covington and Norma's friend from her book club named Sandra all participated in a session that took place at Lemuria this morning at 11:00 am. They all talked about aspects of the book and then what it was like growing up here in Jackson in the 60s and a little bit about how things are now. It will be featured at 7:00 Tuesday night (March 2) on cbsnews.com and should be available for viewing for a week from that time. They all spoke from the heart so I think each of you will appreciate their honesty and articulate rendering of our city. I was listening to Katie's preview with them (that won't be broadcast) and she spoke of all the towns she had been to in this state and the one everyone seemed to know is Macon , Mississippi. Anyway, share this note with friends who really liked the book or hated it for that matter and people you know (from high school, college, in the area, out of the area).
