Wow! I finished reading Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay last night. Those of you who are intrested in WWII and the Holocaust will enjoy this book. Those of you who like it when the shoe drops will love it. Also, when a writer has me questioning the actions of a character or disliking his/her personality, I know I have "gotten into" the book. Such is the case with Sarah's Key. I could undersatnd all the questioning and guilt associated with Sarah, but Julia's second guessing and inability to take control drove me crazy. My only problem with the book is that Sarah drops out of the picture and the focus is on Julia. Sarah had been such a major part of the book, I wanted to read more of her story of her attempts to deal with her past, not of Julia's insepid husband and his midlife crisis. However, I guess her disappearing for a time, paralleled the disappearence of the Jews until what realy happened surfaced. I will be goinig to France in a couple of weeks, and you can be sure I will be visiting the places I read about when I get to Paris. Get a copy and read it! I thought I posted a comment yesterday which was just to say I had read it. It was almost as hard to read as Sophie's Choice. I will try to post again.
Found yesterday's post below Feb. 4th!
